A fisherman called police after he found a kayak floating upside down and unoccupied at the Oconee River Greenway.
According to Major Linc Boyer, police and fire showed up to the scene around 9 p.m.
Officers got the kayak out of the water and were checking the area by boat and drone when they made contact with a woman who said the kayak belonged to her.
She said she fell out about a half mile north of the bridge and her kayak filled up with water, so she swam to a rock and called her father to come pick her up by boat. She was wearing a life jacket.
