Two Lake Area hospitals says they have received their first shipments of the COVID-19 vaccine and will start vaccinating employees today.
Navicent Health got their first shipment of the Pfizer vaccine Monday and gave it 30 of their employees in Macon.
Starting today, Navicent Health says they will using Pfizer vaccine systemwide, including at Navicent Health Baldwin.
Navicent Health says it also expects to start getting the Moderna version of the COVID vaccine Wednesday.
Navicent Health Chief Clinical Officer Dr. Sanford Duke says they expect to have 720 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine and 4,000 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 on hand this week.
The focus will be on frontline workers, especially those who deal directly with COVID-19 patients.

St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro says they have received part of their first order of the Pfizer vaccine and is expects to start vaccinating workers today. They will start with staff that deal with COVID patients before looking at other employees.
