A Milledgeville man is using his story to bring awareness to a rare disease on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Andre Williams is hosting events for Steven-Johnson Syndrome, a serious disorder that is usually a reaction to medication that starts with flu-like symptoms followed by a painful rash that spreads. The disorder of the skin and mucous membranes and then the top layer of skin is affected and sheds. Early treatment is crucial.
Williams is a survivor of this syndrome and hopes to educate the public, according to a press release by Milledgeville Main Street.
Williams, along with Royalty Luv Creations Inc. and AAK Entertainment are showing The Color Purple, the musical, at the Baldwin Fine Arts Center. This event is to collect donations for the Augusta Burn Center.
There are three showings available to the public at just $25 per ticket. Tickets can be purchased for Friday or Saturday August 12 and 13 at 7:30 p.m. or Sunday August 14 at 2:30 p.m.
