A Greene County Sheriff’s Detention Officer has been fired after being arrested for smuggling illegal items into the jail for inmates.
On Tuesday, Jonathan Rowland was charged with Trading with Inmates Without Consent of Warden or Superintendent and Violation of Oath of Office.
Rowland was investigated after a tip that Rowland was trading contraband, including cigarettes, for money.
He turned himself in and was released on bond.
Rowland was fired. He had worked for the Sheriff’s Office for nearly four years.
