The GBI executed a search warrant Wednesday at the Eatonton Police Department in connection to an investigation of excessive use of force by Police Chief Kent Lawrence.
The GBI says it does not plan to search City Hall.
Chief Lawrence was suspended Friday after being arrested and charged in connection with an incident involving a handcuffed woman in custody at the police department.
Chief Lawrence is facing two counts of simple battery and one count of battery. All misdemeanors. Chief Lawrence has been released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in court in February. Investigators tell us there is body camera video of the incident.
