Local authorities say one man is dead and another person suffered minor injuries after a shooting at a mobile home park in Milledgeville around 9 p.m. Tuesday.

When authorities arrived, they found the victim 21-year-old Javon Jackson, had suffered “multiple gunshot wounds.” Paramedics then took him to the emergency room, where he later died. Another man sustained grazing wounds on his leg but was treated by EMS on the scene.

“Physical evidence from the scene indicates that we’ve got multiple weapons used, [and] multiple shooters,” said Maj. Brad King with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. “In total, very close to 50 rounds were fired during this incident.”

King said investigators recovered one weapon from the scene.

The incident occurred at the Southwood Mobile Home Park on Vinson Highway.

Deputies were assisted on the scene by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI), the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF), and the Milledgeville Police Department (MPD).

“Currently, we are following up on leads and conducting interviews, and we’re making good progress with the investigation,” King said.
