On Tuesday, the North Central Health District (NCHD) announced that they would begin offering Pfizer’s pediatric COVID-19 vaccine at all 13 of their health departments.

Michael Hokanson, North Central Health District spokesman, said they received their first shipment of the special doses last week, but they needed to get their computer database set up correctly. “We had to make the distinction [in the system] between regular Pfizer and pediatric Pfizer so that everything is logged appropriately,” Hokanson said.

The specialized vaccine aimed at protecting children ages 5 to 11 contains one-third of the regular dose.

All 13 of the district’s health departments have “COVID vaccine-specific” days of the week, but Hokanson says individuals can call and make an appointment for another day.
