BALDWIN COUNTY

In Milledgeville, the two contested races for the city council will remain in the hands of the incumbents.

District 5 Councilman Richard “Boo” Mullins Jr. holds onto his seat, winning 161 votes (or 65%) to his competitor, Jessica McQuain’s 85 (or 34%).

District 6 Councilman Steve Chambers beats back a challenge with 237 votes (or 67%) to his opponent, Daisy Child’s 115 (32.7%).

The remaining councilmembers: Jeanette Walden, Dr. Collinda Lee, Denese Shinholster and Walter Reynolds, ran unopposed.

Milledgeville Mayor Mary Parham-Copelan ran in an uncontested race to serve another four-year term as the city’s top official.

In the race for GMC Board of Trustees District 1, Alan Hale Wicker and Lataurlen K. Lewis will move on to a November 30th runoff. The two men tied with 31 votes each. William F. Kennedy lost by two votes.

GREENE COUNTY

In Greensboro, Corey Williams defeated the longtime Mayor Glenn Wright. Williams beat the incumbent with 53% of the vote to Wright’s 27%.

Wright will leave after 20 years as Mayor of Greensboro.

Our Chip Lyness reports 12 candidates ran for Greensboro City Council, including the five incumbents. Voters select their top five candidates, and the highest vote-getters win.

New winners include David Neal and Tony Jack Rowland. Incumbents Cynthia Rivers and Morris Miller will return.

There will be a runoff for the 5th slot between incumbents Jontavius Smith and Chris Moore. The two men tied with 275 votes each that runoff will be Tuesday, December 2nd.

Union Point Mayor Lanier Rhodes ran unopposed. Eight candidates ran to fill the six city council seats. The top six vote-getters are Sally Boswell, William Thomas Harris Jr., Mary Mundy, Tenisha Pinkney, John Rhodes, and James “Jimmy” Scott.

MORGAN COUNTY

In the race for Mayor of Rutledge incumbent Bruce Altznauer was handily reelected with 71% of the vote to his opponent, Allen Smith’s 29%.

For Rutledge City Council District 1 incumbent Adam Beckstine beat back a challenge from his opponent Devon Dartnell 56% to 44%.

In the District 3 race incumbent Brandie Williams Owens holds onto the seat with 71% of the vote to her opponent, Wesley Johnson’s 29%.
