A Jones County doctor has pled guilty to illegally giving prescription drugs to his patients.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Dr. Thomas Sachy made the deal just hours before he was to go on trial Monday.
He could go to jail for up to eight years after pleading guilty Monday to one count of illegally prescribing medications including pain meds and stimulants.
Sachy is also giving up $800,000 and his medical office in Gray.
Federal prosecutors say two of his patients died from using illegally prescribed drugs.
Sachy will be sentenced in September.
