A 19-year-old from Milledgeville has been arrested and charged with murder after a Sunday night shooting in Eatonton.
The GBI says around 7:45 Eatonton Police officers were called out to a home on Lawson Drive for fighting in the road. Officers broke up a large crowd and then left.
Then around 9, Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills says his deputies and Eatonton Police officers went to Lawson Homes about multiple shootings.
Deputies and officers found 19-year-old Roman Rowell and 16-year-old Jeremiah Walton. Both had been shot and both died. They both were from Eatonton.
The GBI says 19-year-old Xavier Rashad Chambers has been arrested and charged with two counts of malice murder, two counts of aggravated assault and one firearms charge. Chambers is from Milledgeville.
Sheriff Sills says there is “some evidence that this is a gang-related matter.”
Sheriff Sills adds that Chambers was out on bond for a murder charge in Baldwin County.
