Milledgeville Police Chief Dray Swicord says investigators believe there was no foul play involved with Tuesday’s discovery of a body inside of a burning car.

At this time, investigators believe this was a car crash that led to a car fire that killed 42-year-old Merri Rebecca Jackson. She is from Washington County.

What led to the car crash is still being investigated.

This all started Tuesday around 2 p.m., when Milledgeville Police recieved a call about a car on fire on Abbatoir Road, heading toward the Central State Hospital boat ramp.

The woman’s body was found after Baldwin County Fire put out the flames.

Milledgeville Police investigators are still looking for any information or tips on this case.
