Baldwin County School District Superintendent Dr. Noris Price laid out the school district’s plan to give the COVID-19 vaccine to teachers and staff.
She talked about those plans Thursday during a meeting of state leaders and a small group of school superintendents.
The district will have a mass vaccination event on Friday, March 12th. There will be a second event on Saturday, March 13th. That second event is aimed at employees, like bus drivers and nutrition workers, who might be able to make Friday.
Dr. Price believes the March 12th makes sense because it is a half-day and March 15th is a school holiday. Dr. Price says the weekend and the day off allows extra time to deal with possible side effects of the vaccine.
A recent survey of school employees shows 57% want to get the vaccine. Also, 5% have already received the vaccine because they were already eligible.
