The State of Georgia is expanding who can get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Governor Brian Kemp announced the expansion Thursday at the State Capitol. It includes K-12 educators in private and public schools, Pre-K educators, preschool and childcare employees.
Also included are adults with developmental disabilities and parents of children with complex medical conditions.
The expansion does not include university employees.
Governor Brian Kemp says the state plans to expand eligibility again in late March. That expansion will likely include Georgians with underlying medical conditions.
Governor Kemp reiterated that demand is bigger than the supply of vaccine causing challenges when it comes to getting an appointment.
Governor Kemp also called on schools to fully open, but says he is not considering executive action to force that to happen.
In the Lake Area, Hancock County Schools is the only system that is online learning only.
