Spotlight: Wilkinson Used Cars and Title Pawn

Wilkinson Used Cars and Title Pawn has been a Milledgeville staple since 1953. Owner Jeffrey Wilkinson is of the third generation, and took full ownership of the business in 2017.

Wilkinson says he was born into the business, and did a little bit of everything.

“I started age five washing tires… to now running the place,” he said.

The car lot has always been a “buy here, pay here” business run by the WIlkinson family.

But, the real heartbeat of the business are the customers, Wilkinson says.

“Without our customers, we wouldn’t have a business. The customers have watched me grow up in this place. Some of them have only bought cars from here, which is neat to say,” he said.

At Wilkinson Used Cars they buy and sell, rent out cars, have a mechanical shop to keep the cars going, and offer financing for people with all ranges of credit.

“Everything but a body shop,” Wilkinson said.

And it’s the repeat customers who keep the company going 70 years later. 

“Customers come back to buy more and more cars,” Wilkinson said. 

Wilkinson says they try to do the right thing by their customers the first time, so that they will come back again and again.

When surveying their cars to see what people listen to, 102.3 was a clear favorite. 

“That’s why we decided to advertise on the radio, because we see what our customers listen to.”

And it’s paid off. 

“Radio does work, because it keeps our name out in the public,” Wilkinson said. “Radio just keeps our name out there so when you think about buying a car you think about us.”

Wilkinson Used Cars is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and they’re located at 410 North Wayne Street in Milledgeville.
