Laughing Moon on Main Street in Madison has been a small town favorite for 35 years.
Rhonda Braxley says she walked into the store looking for a job seven years ago, became manager, and now owns the place.
“I fell into this business and I absolutely love it,” she said.
The business was originally owned by Ron and Rhonda Erwin.
“I know without a shadow of a doubt that God got me here… to continue Rhonda Erwin’s legacy,” she said.
The shop has a little bit of everything and mainly caters to women. From clothes, jewelry, and tea towels to gifts they will wrap free of charge.
“We try to find unique things to make people laugh and something that they just can’t find anywhere,” she said.
It’s a small town business that doesn’t just stay to themselves. Braxley says they contribute in other ways.
“We try to be a big part in the community and let people know that we’re here, and we do want to help in other ways too, besides just to sell products,“ she said.
Braxley says the customers and her staff keep it going.
“[The staff] just wants them to come in and enjoy and have a great shopping experience,” she said.
Braxley says they haven’t advertised much, but decided to give radio a try after talking to other business owners around Madison.
“Time will tell, but I’m confident that it’s going to help the business. I’ve talked to other business owners that have been advertising for a while and they helped me. They said ‘yes, do it, it helps business,’” she said. “I just wanted to get the word out and let people know about us.”
Laughing Moon is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
