On the first Friday of every month people come from around Milledgeville to enjoy an event together. It’s called First Friday.
It began in February of 2011 and offers a fun event for people to enjoy year-round, except for in January and July.
The event brings people downtown for an evening out. Non-profit groups set up and provide an activity for all of the children.
Usually there is a “theme” for each First Friday. Sometimes there’s live music, movies and food trucks.
Generally they’re from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and always somewhere in downtown Milledgeville.
“We just love having people come down and take advantage of the locally owned shops that stay open late and drink, dine at all of the restaurants that are also locally owned. We try to bring the community downtown to our free to the public events in hopes that all our downtown businesses will benefit from it, and that the community can have a certain date and time to all gather together,” Amanda Greene, Event Coordinator for Milledgeville Main Street, said.
