The Georgia Power Company held a tabletop Emergency Action Plan (EAP) exercise for the Wallace Dam Pumped Storage and Sinclair Hydroelectric Projects on Tuesday.
The exercise was a simulation of different levels of emergencies that could impact Lake Oconee and Lake Sinclair, including a catastrophic failure of Wallace Dam, Sinclair or Lloyd Shoals dam.
Representatives from Georgia Power, GEMA, Georgia State Patrol, GDOT, local law enforcement agencies and EMAs were present at the exercise. The different agencies simulated how they would coordinate to mitigate the loss of life and property damage.
This is required every five years.
