No one was home at the time of a fire on Will Place in Northern Baldwin County early Wednesday morning, fire officials confirmed.

According to Captain Bradley Towe with Baldwin County Fire Rescue, the blaze that broke out at the home in the 300 block of Will Place started in the master bedroom.

Firefighters with Station 6 and 7 responded to the call, which came in around 3 a.m. from a neighbor.

“They arrived on scene to find a house heavily involved with fire,” Towe said in a phone interview with Lake Country Today. “[The homeowner] was out of town taking care of a family member.”

The house is considered a “total loss.” The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. We’ll post updates as they become available.
