Americans can now begin to place their orders for at-home COVID-19 tests on a new federal government website which launched a day earlier than expected.
The site COVIDTests.gov went live on Tuesday and is in its “beta-phase,” according to White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki.
Each household will be allowed to order up to 4 rapid tests, which will be shipped from the Postal Service “completely free” in 7-12 days.
According to NPR, the site will prioritize zip codes with higher rates of COVID-19 cases and death.
The program is part of the Biden administration’s effort to address the latest surge of COVID-19 cases. Last week, the president announced the government would buy 1 billion at-home COVID tests for Americans.
