Authorities say a woman is in stable condition after crashing into a utility pole on a busy road in Milledgeville on Tuesday afternoon.
The wreck happened around 4:30 p.m. and snarled traffic for nearly two hours while motorists were re-routed by local law enforcement.
According to Milledgeville Police Maj. Linc Boyer, the still-unidentified driver of the 2020 Kia Forte was traveling northbound on North Jefferson street when “for reasons unknown” she crossed over both southbound lanes “and struck a power pole with the front of her vehicle.”
The crash occurred just south of Lakeside Drive.
“The driver was transported to Atrium Navicent Baldwin by Grady EMS in stable condition,” Boyer said in an email to Lake Country Today. “The power pole was snapped in half, and Ga Power responded to the scene. Ga Power secured the power pole until they can come back tomorrow and replace it.”
Meanwhile, paramedics took three motorists to the hospital with minor injuries following another crash in front of Lowe’s on 441.
“[That wreck] was caused by another vehicle following too close and striking the rear of another vehicle,” Boyer said.
That incident happened around 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
