In her first media interview since taking the helm of the state’s public liberal arts university, Georgia College President Cathy Cox reaffirmed a commitment to the local community.

A study from the Board of Regents found the university had a $282 million impact on the region’s economy for fiscal year 2020.

According to the study, “for each job created on campus, there are 1.6 off-campus jobs that exist because of spending related to the college or university.”

The positive impact extends to Baldwin, Bibb, Hancock, Jones, Putnam, Wilkinson and Washington counties.
