Donnie Rowe will spend the rest of his life behind bars for his role in the 2017 killing of two Georgia Corrections Officers.

On Wednesday afternoon, Judge Brenda Trammell handed down the sentence inside a Putnam County courtroom after jurors could not agree on whether to give the 48-year-old the death penalty.

Under Georgia Code 17-10-31(c): “if the jury is unable to reach a unanimous verdict as to sentence, the judge shall dismiss the jury and shall impose a sentence of either life imprisonment or imprisonment for life without parole.”

Last Thursday, the jury of seven women and five men found Rowe guilty on all six charges, including malice murder for the killings of officers Curtis Billue and Christopher Monica on a prison bus in Putnam County in 2017.

The trial, which lasted 11 days, included the testimony of nearly two dozen witnesses.

According to WGXA News, following the sentencing, Rowe waived his right to an appeal.

Rowe’s co-defendant Ricky Dubose will stand trial for his alleged role in the crimes in early 2022.
