Jury selection continues today in South Georgia for the death penalty trial of Donnie Rowe.

He is one of the two men accused of killing two state correctional officers on a prison bus in Putnam County in 2017.

District Attorney Wright Barksdale tells us 31 jurors have been qualified, as of Monday. The goal is qualify 57 jurors from about 600 Grady County residents.

It has been a slow process as jury selection started last Monday.

The jury had to be picked from outside our area because of the media attention for the prison escape and deaths of the officers.

Once a jury of 12 and 5 alternates is picked, they will be brought back to Putnam County to start the trial of Donnie Rowe.

Ricky Dubose will be tried separately for the deaths of officers Christopher Monica and Curtis Billue.
