Jones has represented the 25th State Senate District since 2013. The district includes all of Baldwin, Greene, Morgan and Putnam Counties.
On Tuesday, he posted this campaign ad on his website and social media channels.
Jones does face a major challenge in the Republican primary as fellow State Senator Butch Miller is also in the race.
Miller is the State Senate President Pro Tempore, the second most powerful position in the State Senate.
On the Democratic side, candidates include State Representatives Erick Allen and Derrick Jackson, along with Bryan Miller, the grandson of former Georgia Governor and U.S. Senator Zell Miller.
