Georgia Military College Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Bert Williams has died after a battle with cancer.

Williams first came to GMC in 1997 as a coordinator. He became Head Football Coach and Athletic Director in 2000.

GMC won a national junior college title in 2001, along with playing in two other title games.

He retired in November as he battled cancer.

In May, Williams honored by the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame with the J.B. Hawkins Humanitarian Award.

A celebration of life will be held this Friday at 2 p.m. at Northridge Christian Church in Milledgeville. He will be laid to rest in Hertiage Memorial Park in Milledgeville during a private burial service.
