Augusta University Health has launched AU Health AirCare, an air ambulance that could serve Lake Area emergency trauma cases and major pediatric cases.

The helicopter is an EC145 that can cruise at 150 mph and has a range of 350 miles.

AU Health Vice President and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Phillip Coule says there will be room for the patient, medical staff, advance medical equipment, along with room for a patient’s family member like a parent.

Right now in the Lake Area, there is an air ambulance based out of Milledgeville. Air Evac Lifeteam‘s helicopter is about 20-30 minutes from most parts of the Lake Oconee area.
