The unemployment rate dropped from 4.4% in March to 4% in April in Baldwin, Greene, Hancock, Morgan and Putnam Counties.
Also, the total number of unemployed people in the Lake Area went down by 189 to 1,800 in April, according to Georgia Department of Labor data.
There were some quirks in the data. The total number of people working in the Lake Area went down 365 from March to April. (43,096 to 42,731) Also, the total number of people in the Lake Area workforce went down by 554. (45,085 to 44,531) Those are possibly a reflection of people moving out of the Lake Area or people finding jobs outside of the Lake Area. There is also the possibility that some people have left the workforce completely.
