The coronavirus pandemic has shown the issues with internet services in the Lake Area, Georgia and across the country.
Some folks are still dealing with those challenges, including how to pay for it.
The federal government has rolled out the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program, which includes an internet discount of up to $50 a month.
Folks who are eligible include those on federal programs like Medicaid, certain veterans’ programs, along with those who have lost income because of furloughs or layoffs.
Local providers like Hargray and Windstream are part of the program.
The program will end when $3.2 billion fund runs out of money.
