26% of residents in the Baldwin, Greene, Hancock, Morgan and Putnam Counties are now fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
That is from the latest data from the Georgia Department of Public Health.
Greene County is clearly doing the best of the Lake Area’s five counties with 35% of its total population being fully vaccinated. Morgan is at 28%, Hancock 26% and Baldwin and Putnam are at both at 24%. An important note, only people older than 12 are eligible for the vaccine.
The pace of vaccinations has slowed recently. In the past three weeks, about 4,000 people in the Lake Area were fully vaccinated.
Listen to our interview with Michael Hokanson with the Georgia Department of Public Health North Central Health District. He talks about some of the reasons he is seeing for the slowing pace of vaccination, some of the common questions they are getting, changes that could be coming to their operations and what they are seeing with the people still getting COVID-19.
