The search continues for a 12-year-old boy is believed to have drowned Sunday night in Lake Sinclair.

The body of a 12-year-old boy from Milledgeville has been recovered from Lake Sinclair.

Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Game Wardens found body around 10:45 Monday morning using sonar.

The body of 12-year-old Traetorin Mitchell is now with the Baldwin County Coroner’s Office.

His family had anchored a pontoon boat in the area of the Baldwin County Airport, according DNR Public Affairs Officer Mark McKinnon.

Before 7 Sunday evening, Traetorin went into the lake to help an aunt struggling in the water.

Traetorin did not come back up.

DNR crews searched until 11 Sunday night.

DNR restarted the search at 6:30 Monday morning before finding the body. A Georgia State Patrol dive team was able to recover the body.

Traetorin was a 7th grader at Oak Hill Middle School. The Baldwin County School District has released this statement.
