Governor Brian Kemp has extended Georgia’s State of Emergency for fuel issues caused by the Colonial Pipeline Outage.

The Governor’s new executive order extends the State of Emergency through Saturday, May 22nd.

The original executive order includes the suspension of the state motor fuel tax.

The current state tax is 28.7 cents a gallon on gas and 32.2 cents a gallon on diesel.

The Governor’s order also temporarily raises weight limits for trucks shipping fuel and allows trucks to bypass weigh stations.

It also bans price gouging.

As of Thursday, more than 400 complaints had been filed with the Georgia Attorney General’s office.

While the Colonial Pipeline restarted operations on Wednesday, the Georgia-based company said it would be few days before things return to normal.

There are a handful of gas stations in the Lake Area that are out of gas and diesel, according to the GasBuddy app.
