Gracie’s Law is now on the books after it was signed by Governor Brian Kemp Thursday.

House Bill 128 bans organ transplant discrimination against anyone with a disability.

It was authored by Lake Area State Representative Rick Williams and co-sponsored by Lake Area State Representative Mack Jackson.

The bill is named for Gracie Nobles, whose family lives in Washington County.

In 2019, Gracie was born with Down Syndrome and a heart defect.

In the end, she did not need a transplant after successful open-heart surgery.

House Bill 128 also language added from another bill called Simon’s Law. Simon’s Law makes doctors get parental permission for “Do Not Resuscitate” orders.
