A 16-year-old from Greensboro is expected to be charged with vehicular homicide after he says he fell asleep behind the wheel before a head-on crash that killed the other driver.
Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills says the crash happened Monday morning around 6:45 on Pea Ridge Road about a 1/2 mile north of 441. That is near the Eatonton Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
The 16-year-old’s pickup truck hit a Ford Focus head on, killing the driver, 44-year-old Emmanuel Ward of Siloam. The 16-year-old was not injured.
Sheriff Sills says he intends to the charge the 16-year-old, a student at John Milledge Academy, as a juvenile with the misdemeanor vehicular homicide, along with failure to maintain lane.
