A transportation sales tax referendum could be on the ballot in November.

Money raised by a local 1% sales tax would only be used on local roads maintained by the county or city. This would not include state roads like 29 or 441.

Back in 2018, Baldwin County voters rejected a 1% transportation sales by 870 votes or 6% percent.

Baldwin County’s current sales tax is 7%.

In the Lake Area, Morgan and Putnam Counties have a 1% sales tax for transportation. Hancock County is part of 13-county 1% sales tax for regional transportation projects. Taliaferro, Washington and Wilkes Counties are also part of CSRA Transportation Investment Act Region.
