The first chase was started in Walton County around 11:20 Saturday morning.
Walton County Sheriff’s deputies chased a black Lincoln Town Car into Morgan County along Prospect Road.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s office says Walton deputies ended the chase along Doster Road. Then a Morgan County Sheriff’s deputy saw the car on Doster Road and the driver took off again. The car eventually disappearing along Highway 83.
The car was seen again along Burney Street in Madison. Madison Police officers and Morgan County deputies chased the Town Car onto Atlanta Highway (278) heading west.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s office says the Town Car crashed into a truck at 278 and Brownwood Road.
The driver of the Town Car tried to run away but was caught.
He had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
Nobody else was hurt.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating, and charges are pending.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s office says the driver did have an outstanding warrant.
Now while officers were at the accident scene along Highway 278, a chase started in Greene County along I-20.
Just before noon, a Greene County Sheriff’s deputy started a chase with a speeding black Ford Crown Victoria.
During the chase, the driver of Crown Victoria ran one Greene County deputy off I-20 and hit another deputy’s police cruiser.
A Georgia State Patrol trooper used the P.I.T. maneuver to end the chase around mile marker 110 on I-20 west in Morgan County.
19-year-old Aaron Jenkins was told by a Greene County Sheriff’s deputy and the state trooper to get out of the wrecked Crown Victoria.
The Georgia State Patrol says Jenkins refused to show his hands and eventually pulled a gun and fired at the officers.
Both the deputy and trooper fired back, hitting Jenkins.
Jenkins was taken to the hospital, where he was in stable condition at last report.
Jenkins, who is from South Carolina, will be charged with Aggravated Assault Against a Police Officer and Felony Obstruction.
No Morgan County deputies were involved in the chase or shooting.
Nobody else was hurt.
The Greene County Sheriff’s deputy, who fired his gun, is on standard paid administrative leave.
The GBI is investigating.
