The Greene County School System is making changes to try to get students back into the classroom.
The school system has turned next week into Winter Break for all students.
After the break, on January 25th, the school system plans on returning to in-person classes four days a week under what is called Phase III. Details here: https://www.greene.k12.ga.us/Page/1468
In a statement, the Greene County School System says “These changes create a weeklong break for students in January at a time when community spread of COVID-19 is at its highest point since March 2020. Moving a holiday to January will allow the community spread to subside and enables our students to finish the school year strong by buying some time to get them back in school for an additional week of in-person learning in the coming months.”
Along with turning next week into Winter Break, the Greene County School Board has also changed February 16-19 from virtual school days to regular school days. The School kept February 12th as a day off and added February 15th. That gives students a four-day holiday for President’s Day weekend.
Here is the updated calendar.
